The State of Texas has ~$690 million for Texans to make energy efficiency improvements for single-family or multi-family homes, including weatherization, ENERGY STAR® appliances, and more! These improvements can keep homes more comfortable, save you money through lower electricity bills and reduce demand on the electric grid. Background
The Texas Comptroller Office's State Energy Conservation Office (SECO) is seeking feedback for two (2) upcoming rebate programs that encourage households to purchase ENERGY STAR® appliances or make whole-home energy improvements that lower your home's energy bill. Covered improvements may include appliances, insulation, air sealing, weatherization, and other upgrades. The final list of eligible items and rebate amounts is still being decided.
Authorized by the Inflation Reduction Act of 2022, the Home Efficiency Rebates (HOMES) and the Home Electrification and Appliance Rebate (HEAR) programs will provide residential energy efficiency and beneficial electrification rebates to Texans. The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) has allocated $690 million to the state through SECO to implement Texas Home Energy Rebates and assist Texans in reducing energy costs while upgrading their homes. The state of Texas is designing these programs, pending approval by the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE).
The HOMES program will provide rebates to encourage households to make whole-home energy-saving upgrades. Households of all income levels will be eligible to participate, including single-family homes and multifamily buildings.
The HEAR program will help income-qualified households by providing rebates for specific efficient electrical appliances and supporting upgrades.
